A search request may also include information about another person, such as a relative or estate, where you have a legitimate reason or authority to provide that information.
2. Information you should not provide
Unclaimed Compass does not need passwords, PINs, banking login credentials, full payment-card numbers, private keys, seed phrases, or authentication codes. Do not submit those items through the search intake, Contact form, email, notes, or any other communication channel.
3. How information may be used
Information submitted to Unclaimed Compass may be used to:
- Review and organize your search request.
- Identify legitimate public records, registries, administrators, or other appropriate search paths.
- Respond to Contact-form messages and other support inquiries.
- Communicate with you about questions, missing information, or possible next steps.
- Maintain internal case records, status history, communications, and operational notes.
- Protect the service from fraud, spam, abuse, unauthorized access, or security incidents.
4. Service providers and permitted research
We may use service providers that support hosting, database storage, security, communications, or other operational functions. Where a case justifies enhanced research, information may also be shared with legally authorized data providers, professional partners, record custodians, or other permitted channels when appropriate to the requested service.
When optional enhanced research is proposed, Unclaimed Compass will explain the relevant scope, consent requirements, jurisdictional limits, material limitations, and any additional cost before that work begins.

We aim to retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the search request or inquiry, legal or operational obligations, dispute resolution, security, and recordkeeping. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Unclaimed Compass uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or disclosure.
